LOLRULEZ.
RULES.
I hope you have a decently sized attention span. Sit down, relax, grab some popcorn -- you might be here for a while.
1. General
- Don't be afraid.
The last thing you want to be here is shy. The main purpose of this site is to have fun and attempt satisfy the perpetually insatiable need for yaoi -- so get out there and roleplay like there's no tomorrow!
Just because someone doesn't ship the pairing you do doesn't mean it's stupid; a person isn't defined by anything, including how they type or portray characters; everyone's here to have fun, just like you. Do your part and help
is strongly fuckin' encouraged.
For those of you that think it's fun to ruin other people's fun and laugh at their torment and sorrow, go someplace else. The immature act of flaming -- for no reason other than that the innocent roleplayer was victim to the typo fairy or isn't quite as skilled at writing as you may be -- will not be tolerated. It's childish and hurtful. Anyone who flames or crashes will be banned from the site immediately; no warnings, no second chances. Gtfo have a nice day. (:
No, seriously.
2. Characters
The girl with the dazzling smile, flowing hair down to her back (or ankles, whichever), miniskirt and low-cut top that nicely hug her features, and piercing eyes that reflect the sorrow of her past (who can seduce any guy or girl she wants by simply flipping her hair).
The guy with the amazing skills that just happens to get away with anything he can come up with and is the talk of the town ("Oh, I wish I could be as great as _____!" "Did you hear _____ finished three whole S-rank missions yesterday by himself?"), for whom all the girls/other guys swoon whenever he walks by.
They are the hated Mary-Sue and Gary-Stu, and in this forum, they do not exist. The appearance of one would alter time, space, and reality since it would render the above statement false and turn everything we know into a lie, so they shall be deleted or improved on upon sight.
In short: NO PERFECT CHARACTERS ALLOWED!
If your character is flinging themselves at their preferred gender, compliments slewing out of their perfectly glossed lips, getting on their hands and knees to beg for a date, and doing just about anything they can to gain affection, they are acting desperate and are therefore dubbed despies.
While this character won't be deleted or the user punished, a warning will be sent and improvements will need to be made -- with a moderator's help if necessary. If worse comes to worse we might provide a best friend character to get the despie (and roleplayer) used to the idea of having an outlet and someone with whom to have fun without demanding needless ooey-gooey romance. If said training works out, maybe you'll be able to find a lovah with the art of subtlety -- or maybe even start gettin' a little closer to your friends. ;D
Note: Despies and Mary-Sues are not to be confused. Despies simply need behavioral modifications; Mary-Sues often need complete makeovers.
Everyone is allowed a maximum of two canon characters OR one original and a canon OR one original. Simply put, you can have any combination of two characters as long as they're not both originals.
3. Roleplaying
It's quite difficult to give a detailed, embellished response when you've only got a couple vague sentences to work with. Let's keep the standards up and make this a fun, enjoyable site for everyone. If you're less than literate, I would suggest lurking around here a bit and watching how things are done. Maybe try to find someone out there who'll tutor you (I myself am horrible at teaching, but I'll try if you PM or email me). But always remember the three golden rules: Quality over quantity; if you looked up the word in a thesaurus, don't use it; and thoughts and actions will always beat blatant description by a mile. I'll go further into this in the Good Writing Tips forum if you want to take a look.
If you know you're not going to meet expectations, don't come here and act offended when people don't want to roleplay with you or ask you to leave. If you type too fast to keep up or you have spelling issues, use spell check. If someone's harassing you, ignore and report them. If you don't know something about your character, look it up instead of saying, "I don't know," and risk being denied/looking stupid. It's common sense, guys.
There will be spoilers in this site. Don't start bitching and whining because you aren't caught up on the manga chapters or haven't seen a particular episode of Shippuuden. In other words: either find a summary of the series, or read the damn manga (dub-watchers, we know you're out there)!
Once upon a time, a wonderful man named Kishimoto Masashi created a handful of drawings with the skilled brushwork and dexterity of a worn-down ballpoint pen. He created suitable names for each of these characters and breathed wonderful and unique personalities into each one, setting them apart from one another and making them easily recognizable as well a lovable (or hateable -- and yes, I know that's not a word) character.
Key word here is personality.
These characters are all defined by their traits and tendencies. Whether silent and brooding or loud and proud, it's expected that you can roleplay your character consistently with his or her personality. In other words: you should be able to write a post without using your character's name and others should be able to recognize them based on how they act or think.
Every single fight scene should be written in attempts (i.e. "He threw the kunai at his opponent, aiming for the chest and hoping to land a hit in a vital organ."). No one can decide their punch connected with the other character's face; nor can anyone constantly say their character dodged or avoided every attack.
What is allowed:
"Sasuke pulled his arm back, fingers curling into a fist and fingernails digging into his palms from the intense emotion rushing through him. In an instant said fist was closing the distance between itself and Itachi's face."
"Had Itachi been paying full attention, the fist could easily have been caught. But his thoughts were wandering back to where they shouldn't, in those places he hardly dared venture and in memories that made him feel ghosts of tears in his eyes. As a result, the punch landed hard on his face, sending him stumbling backwards."
What is not allowed:
"Sasuke pulled his arm back, fingers curling into a fist and fingernails digging into his palms from the intense emotion rushing through him. In an instant said fist was closing the distance between itself and Itachi's face, hitting his elder brother's skull so hard he swore he heard bone crack."
Ergo, the difference between "He hurled a kunai at Naruto's shoulder" and "He lodged a kunai in Naruto's shoulder."
Should any such occurrence arise, notify a moderator and the fight scene will either be disbanded or a third party will decide which blows hit whom. Powerplaying will not get you warned unless you continue to do it repeatedly after being told not to.
4. Warning System
Usually, you'll get two warnings before being suspended. After coming back and breaking the rules again, you'll be banned by email address. If you want to come back on another, feel free, but be warned -- I have ways of knowing who you are. After two more warnings, it's IP ban time, buddy.
5. FAQ
Nope. We're all human; we make mistakes! The purpose of the in-character rule is to ensure we don't have a whole bunch of Hinatas running around declaring their love for Naruto or Karins being humble and...un-show-offy around Sasuke. It's just to keep chaos from happening -- slipping up occasionally is understandable, given we don't know the characters inside and out. Only Kishi does.
Every computer has a specific number attached to it, called an IP address. If you get IP banned, the computer with that IP address -- yours -- won't be able to access this site. Having had no experience, I'm not sure if you can change that by switching internet providers or anything, but I don't recommend you try.
Not at all. Unfortunately, when you make one Mary-Sue, you have a tendency to make another out of all the characters you create. If you want someone to stop fishing, do you take away the fish they caught or their fishing license? Instead of just denying one and starting the process over, we'll help you mold and bend your Mary-Sue until she's a nice, average character ready to be approved. A guide to demolishing Mary-Sues will be posted soon; check the site Updates and Announcements forum often.
Not necessarily. While this is a primarily yaoi-centered forum, yuri and some hentai are allowed. Oftentimes it helps to keep the plot going, and those bi characters of yours have to switch it up every once in a while!
Just PM me and ask to reserve a certain character -- it's that easy. Don't worry, I don't bite~
You may want to reserve a character because you're not sure if you want them yet, but you don't want anyone else to take them in the meantime. Or maybe you're going away and won't be able to post an application. Whatever the reason, I'll put the character away on hold for a while. If you end up not coming back for, say, a month, obviously I'm not going to leave it on layaway forever.
Let's think about this. You're putting someone in the roleplay, so we know it counts as a character. Are they canon? Unless you're Kishimoto's niece or something, you're not in the series, so no. They're a character, but not canon. So the answer to your question is...um, yes. It doesn't matter after whom you modeled your made-up -- it could be yourself or your dog, for all I care -- they still count as a made-up.
Moderators, post anything I might have forgotten here, plz. c:
EVERYONE -- don't ask questions here; they'll be deleted. Go to the Questions/Complaints/Suggestions forum for that, and I'll post them on the FAQ section.
